Varna Airport is situated on the Northern Black Sea coast, about 8 km outside the city of Varna. The airport serves the Northeast of Bulgaria
and provides convenient links to major airports such as Sofia, Vienna, Istanbul, Moscow, etc.
Varna Airport has a strong impact on the development of transport networks, tourism and trade in the region. Its favorable geographical location, the combination of air, sea, railway junction and road transportation, provides opportunities for intermodal traffic and allows for a significant number of tourism flights during the summer season, as well as regular airline routes throughout the year.
On August 15, 2013 - the Day of Varna, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD (German-Bulgarian concessionaire of Burgas Airport and Varna Airport for 35 years) inaugurated a new modern passenger terminal at Varna Airport.
